I noticed something today.
A lot of you are having a bad case of Everything Sucks. Ugh.
And actually, I was having it too (I woke up feeling all sick-ish and my throat is kinda scritchy and sore and I keep sneezing, which does not make me feel happy), and then, quite by accident, I tried cheering up a few of my beautiful friends on Twitter.
(I bet you know what happened next.)
I feel better! Ha. And now, for your enjoyment (and cheering-up-ness), is a list of Stuff That Doesn’t Suck.
Stuff That Doesn’t Suck: Monday Edition
1) An online western serial novel called A Savage Wilde, which is written by my friend Becca (she’s my FRIEND now, even though I’ve been stalking her for ages, haha), and is completely MADE OF AWESOME.
2) My favorite MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role-playing game) of all time, Guild Wars. I play this when I need some down time but can’t really leave my office or I’ll get distracted from whatever-it-is that I’m trying to brain my way through.
3) Making up phrases like ‘brain my way through,’ and expecting you to know what I mean.
4) Working from home, because I can give myself an easy day if I wake up sick. LIKE THIS MORNING.
5) Charlie Gilkey’s free planners, as well as the awesome all-in-a-set planners he just released that are REALLY STINKING CHEAP, for serious.
6) The growing list of my favorite people on Twitter.
7) You guys! Seriously. None of you suck, and I love you ALL.
What About You?
What doesn’t suck today, amongst all the stuff that DOES suck? I’m sure there’s at least one teeny thing. :)

What doesn’t suck is getting to spend the evening watching The Office with my wife.
It also doesn’t suck when my wife sees me get overwhelmed with something, then decides to email someone about it, and then I wake up with help in my inbox :)
Both of those are AWESOME. :)
I managed to get four baskets of laundry folded before leaving for work.
I got to work without any mishaps, despite sliding through an intersection. (I took it for granted that it would be ask easy to navigate as the previous intersections..my bad.)
Salad club at work! It’s been great to see so many people making a conscious effort to eat better.
Wow, that’s a lot of folded laundry! Which reminds me. I have about that much laundry waiting for me as well. Heh.
We’re full of the sick today here too. The only one not ill is Zack!
My list of things that don’t suck:
1. My lovely dad picking up some medicine for us, so we didn’t need to leave the house.
2. The sun is shining BRIGHT today!
3. Not having to do it all on my own anymore. Even though Dean’s not well either we have been taking turns of looking after the kids and sleeping.
4. I’m starting to feel better!
5. Having awesome blogs like yours to read. :)
Awww, not having to do it on your own = SO MUCH WIN. So happy for you! :)
My awesome doctor who practices medical home. She knew that I hadn’t visited her since September, spent an entire half hour with me yesterday just listening to what I thought was wrong, giving me options for testing, and generally being encouraging and awesome.
My Lenten fast from social media. It hasn’t even officially started yet, and I’ve already connected with some old friends, and some new ones! (You’re on my list of new ones, even if it’s just in a babysitting role. :D)
Wow, a doctor who practices like that? So jealous. I mean, happy for you! :)
And also – you’re definitely NOT just a babysitting-type friend! I already think you’re awesome, and you haven’t even watched the kids yet. Heehee.
Things That Do Not Suck Today and are Keeping Me from Jumping Off My Laptop:
1. Coffee
2. Suddenly received the TeleTubbies theme song in my head. Awesome.
3. The people on Twitter who respond to my nonsense.
4. The client whose first word in her email reply to my design proof was “awesome.” whew.
5. Our two-year old explaining that the cat is “in space.”
Those are all completely awesome. Especially that your cat is in space.
In our house this morning, my four-year-old cooked up and served a dinosaur in an egg white (apparently), and presented it in the dinosaur egg shell. He’s been watching a lot of cooking shows. LOL.
Non-sucky stuff:
A bed full of Flemish Giant wabbit kits cavorting.
My Blackberry 9700, which is the best phone I’ve ever even seen, let alone owned.
My trusty snowblower, which has been used more this year than in all the other 6 years I’ve had it.
Oil heat.
Little Debbie Nutty Bars.
Ooh, a good snowblower is PRICELESS. :)
Okay, I’m just saying people have to stop stealing my “not sucking” tagline gimmick. That sucks. Or maybe it rules, because I’m like totally catching on. Okay, that rules. Yay not sucking.
What doesn’t suck is that a few people just jumped onto my fun, informative, and nutritious keep-in-touch email list (all about vegetarian food and making software projects not suck) after Karen Lopez mentioned it on Twitter. That’s so not sucky.
Also, I have a pan full of brussels sprouts to steam. Yay veggies.
VEGETABLES. Now I’m hungry!! :)
Yeah, and this week’s free recipe was rutabagas.
I don’t think I’ve EVER eaten those. Putting them on my grocery list. :D
Okay, this proves why it’s so un-slimy to talk about your thing. Mark, I had no idea you have an email list with vegetarian content. There’s so much going on the interwebs that I miss a lot. Killer stuff, apparently.
But now I know about that, so I’m going to sign up.
While waking up with allergies *does* suck, getting to watch Olympic curling, enjoying some leftover champagne cake and starting a batch of cream-of-broccoli soup on the stove definitely does not!
What also doesn’t suck is having the boyfriend’s dog here with me today, to keep me and my dog company. Gotta love Double Dog Day!
Sounds like a marvelous kind of day. :)
Things that do not suck for me:
1. Wood heat
2. My job teaching online
3. My kids – they are behaving wonderfully lately
4. My awesome husband
5. Forcing myself to write this list, despite the difficult morning I had.
You have a job teaching online? How awesome is that! :)
Yes, I love it. I teach, “Foundations for General Education and Professional Success” through the University of Phoenix. Teaching adults is quite an interesting experience, and I really enjoy it.
This is the most amazing conversation happening in my comments section EVER. You guys are incredible! :)

- Mikenna and Aery
