Sometimes I hate being a girl: part eleventy-billon.

Blogged on Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 by Rachael. Filed in Blog365, Emo, Health, Philosophical.

I hate that there is a time every month when I get crampy, cranky, and dismally tired.

I hate the mood swings and the sore back muscles and the inevitable dull throbbing headache.

I hate that I become immediately dehydrated and low on iron at the same time.  I hate that drinking enough water and eating enough iron-rich foods to rebalance my body only makes me feel more queasy and grouchy.

I hate waking up from a nap with the same damn headache, even though I know the nap never works.  Except maybe once every five months or so.

I hate craving salty food because if I give in to my dire craving, I get a bonus, EXTRA headache.

I hate taking pain pills that don’t work, on the off chance that they might this time.

I hate complaining about something that most of us girls have to go through, because it’s like I think I invented the whole I-hate-my-period thing all on my own.  Wow, it will be nice when I stop feeling like a bitchy whinefestering complainathon.

Oh god! Someone who knows how I feel!!

I’m looking into permanent sterilization, and that’s including whatever it is they do that stops periods without removing anything. I’m TIRED of dealing with being female. :(

You should talk to your Dr. about going on seasonal, because getting your period only 4 times a year is amazing.

@Sarah, YAY. We can revel in our bitchy togetherness. :p

I’ve considered the lovely prospect of no more periods, myself, but I’m not ready yet to let go of all hope of being fertile, I don’t think.

    @Dutchess, that’s a spifftastic idea. Now I just need health insurance. :D

@Ray, thanks - my headache is slowly fading, so I’m sure that’s a good sign, lol.

A friend of mine suggested some pills to me a while back and they are awesome: Indocid* (Indomethacin, MSD)
    licensed by Merck

    Hope you feel better soon

aww ((hugs)) I hate my period too!! I don’t know anyone who doesn’t turn into a raving loony psycho…. no, I’m not talking about me, honest! ;)

You could always get up the duff again… no period for almost a year! Although there’s sickness, back pain, sore hips, and a baby to birth. Hmm, maybe not!

I’ll be happy not being fertile, since I already have the kids I want. Plus, after labor not good for me, since I hemorrhage after, and I have to have shots to make it stop *eeps* Not fun, and not really safe, I wouldn’t think ;)

I hate that time of the month too. Your reference to being bad at naps hit home. I am so tired, but I know if I take a nap that I will be a bitch for the rest of the day.

Listen, trust me on this, there will come a day when you no longer have to worry about your periods, and you won’t like that either :) Granted, you do eventually come out the other end :)
