Eric, I appreciate your different perspective, and I hope that you are right and there is a good experience to be had at your Fort Wayne location. However, it's not okay to pick on people because of their spelling. Everyone here has had a different experience, and if you're going to comment here, you need to respect that.

I work for Menards in Fort Wayne, Indiana and have for 3 years. It is a good, positive, and healthy place to work, full time or part time!!

All the ill feelings and slams in these comments are not totally true, all the misspelled words in the above comments don't surprise me! People with bad tastes in their mouths typically can't run a spell check and just want to unload on a good, well paying employer like Menards.

I challenge anyone to step inside of Fort Wayne East Menards and let us show you service with a smile and we'll show you an entire team of well trained, well paid team members!!

I worked for Menards and they treat their employees like slaves. Management is required to work a minimum 55 hours a week and every other weekend. Also you have to work open to close (6:00am to 10:00pm) once during the week and on your weekend to work. Employees have to pay out of their own pocket for "Team Menard" apparel they are manadated/required to wear in the store. I've dealt with Larry Menard (Operations Manager) and all the other jackasses at the General Office in Eau Claire, WI. They are a bunch of money hungry liars who will do anything to make a buck. Their quality is shit, you have to search for about an hour to find 2 boards that are straight enough to use for a project. They promote from inside the company, so if you want to be management you have to already work for the company. They will hire people with a degree and start them out as a "Management Trainee" and pay them "peanuts wages" All of the job openings and positions for new stores are filled by Menards employees at other Menards throughout the company who are looking to transfer to a new store and move up in the company. Watch out for the bullshit from Store Management and General Office, they will backstab long time loyal employees just to save face. Menards has been in so much trouble for illegal activity it's not even funny. Do a search on them www.wcca.gov
John Menard was disposing of green treated lumber and sawdust treated with arsenic and other environmentally harmful contaminents out with his regular residential garbage until he got busted. He paid a fine and caused who knows how much damage to the environment and people living around the area.

P.S. Their race team sucks! TEAM MENARD SUCKS!!! - Never won an Indy 500, most drivers once leaving team Menard went on to have huge success (Tony Stewart went to Home Depot) Arie Luyendyk, Buddy Lazier, Robbie Gordon, etc. Everything Menards tries to get their hands into they screw up. Best off staying away from this company. John Menard got pissed at Stu Mills from Mills Fleet Farm because he saw him actually shopping at a Menards store. He accused Stu Mills of "spying on Menards prices". Menards claims they have the lowest prices in town......yeah right! Just wait until Wal-Mart flexes their muscles and choke Menards!

I work at Menard's. I have to agree that when I heard they were coming to our hometown I was THRILLED! Genesee Co is a deadtown and this seemed to be a glimmer of hope, an answer to prayer - JOBS! And since we have always spent tons of free time in home improvements stores (Home Depot & Lowe's) it seemed a great idea to work at a home improvement store, especially one so close to home. From the start is was great, but soon after the store opened, about 1 wk later, it went downhill from there. I guess they went way beyond their forcasted figures in sales, so why would mgmt suddenly turn nasty & rude to it's employees? Moral has dropped and it saddens me. It doesn't have to be like this. I'm not only an employee, I'm a shopper - so in that respect, as a shopper, when I know of a store that is treating it's employees poorly, I tend to hate that store and refuse to shop there, even if they have good prices. I hope someone from the mgmt at the Clio store reads this as I still have hope for morale to turn around, possibly a change in mgmt if needed, and get it back on track as being a truly wonderful place to work for. I'll hang out for a bit and see what happens as I do believe this store has great potential for it's GREAT employees. yes, they have some truly wonderful people working there who love to give good customer service. I guess I'll never understand why most of mgmt tend to act like idiots. Why not lead by example? If you are mgmt and reading this - you are not above anyone, or better than anyone. And you don't need to be bragging on your big fat profit sharing check in front of us pee-ons who are living on nothing. Yes, there is a mgr there who has often bragged outloud about his fat profit sharing check. Also - I've noticed as an employee that the number of managers is exaggerated to the number of employees. Why on earth would one dept need 3 mgrs? And they are often all there at the same time, causing them to cut the rest of our hours, sending us home early all the time. How about 2 mgrs per dept and give more hours to the lower paid people??? Hmm, that's a thought to help out the payroll numbers. Sorry for rambling. No time to proofread what I just wrote, but it sure felt good to let it out here. Thanks for listening.

Our son works at Menards in Grand Rapids, he hates it. They really don't treat people well, employees or customers. My husband refuses to shop there too many bad experiences to list here. You can save some money but you also have to watch what you buy, they sell some generic name junk. Prices on name brand stuff isn't any lower price then Home Depot. We gladly don't care if we don't "save big monet at Menards, we don't want to support them in any way, shape or form. We can't wait until our son can get another job and tell Menards to screw off.
