When I turned 30 last year, everyone asked me if I was upset... and I couldn't figure out why. I was thrilled to be turning 30, and am even more excited about 31. Doubt I'll feel the same way about 40, but still. I don't feel all growed up - at all. Sometimes I wonder who gave the okay for me to be considered an adult (let alone have KIDS). And, no matter what, I will NEVER EVER EVER stop getting excited about my birthday. Some of that is because nobody else makes a big deal out of it - my mother thinks I'm old enough for it to be worthy of nothing more than a phone call, my husband doesn't "do" birthdays, and my son is 15 - he usually remembers around dinnertime and then asks me for money so he can have a friend drive him to the store and get me a card. So, dammit, if I'm trying to teach myself that I'm important, then I'm not letting go of my birthday happy :) Happy Birthday!!!
