I still get excited by my birthday, even though this year I’m “mature” and “grown up” and – HAHAHA, sorry.
I’m going to be thirty-one! I still feel like a wet-behind-the-ears twenty-year-old! It’s almost LUDICROUS to me that I’ve managed to live this many years already.
My Mamow asked me what I want for my birthday, because to her, I’m still a granddaughter that needs a card and a cake and a birthday gift (and it makes me feel so SO special); and I had no idea what to ask for. None! (Besides, last year they gave me a HOUSE.)
So I thought about it and thought about it, and here are the things I’ve come up with (although I won’t be asking her for most of these, because she already does so much for us), in case YOU want to get me something! Because you love me! Because you love my blog! Because it’s my BIRTHDAY soon. ;)
- Amazon gift certificates (so I can buy books. If you’re a millionaire, you can buy me a Kindle.)
- Exotic, fair market, froo-froo coffee (PLEASE no decaf, lol)
- Exotic or imported beers, to enjoy after the kids are sleeping. *wink*
- Free babysitting! For a month’s worth of date nights.
- An hour-long massage from a professional.
- A month’s worth of chiropractic visits (these aren’t covered by my insurance anymore, wahh)
I also accept donations via Paypal. Heh. ;) (Srsly, let me know if this is something you want to do, and I’ll give you my Paypal email.)
But you know what I REALLY want?
To wake up happy because my family is all with me.
To sit in the sunshine awhile.
To cuddle with my husband and dream about our future.
To kiss my kids and go for a walk with them.
To eat a fancy meal at home.
To hug my Mamow and Papow.
:)

I totally get the “getting-excited-bymy-birthday” thing! I’ll never ever stop making a big deal out of mine, as childish as it may be. Ok, my birthday being on December 24 may have something to do with the need to make a big deal out of it… but it has its advantage, too, and it’s related to your list of things that you really want: it means that I get to see my whole family on my birthday every year, and that is priceless.
Anyways, it’s not about me, it’s about YOU! Happy birthday! May you get what you really want!
Happy early birthday! I hope you get everything you want and more!
Tomorrow, tomorrow! It’s tomorrow, right! Sistah, if I was a millionaire I’d buy you more than just a Kindle! Jeez.
@Sundi, it’s on Sunday – two days from now still. :D
You’re such a sweetie!
Happy Birthday!!!
When I turned 30 last year, everyone asked me if I was upset… and I couldn’t figure out why. I was thrilled to be turning 30, and am even more excited about 31. Doubt I’ll feel the same way about 40, but still.
I don’t feel all growed up – at all. Sometimes I wonder who gave the okay for me to be considered an adult (let alone have KIDS).
And, no matter what, I will NEVER EVER EVER stop getting excited about my birthday. Some of that is because nobody else makes a big deal out of it – my mother thinks I’m old enough for it to be worthy of nothing more than a phone call, my husband doesn’t “do” birthdays, and my son is 15 – he usually remembers around dinnertime and then asks me for money so he can have a friend drive him to the store and get me a card. So, dammit, if I’m trying to teach myself that I’m important, then I’m not letting go of my birthday happy :)
Hi Rachael! Happy birthday! Hope the rest of your birthday WEEK is full of awesomeness. :-)
The birthday is gone and you are 31. Did you get what you wanted?
