FIRST!

It’s raining outside.  It’s gross and wet and sticky with mud and residue from a long winters’ worth of dirt.  It’s my five year blogaversary!

Last year was really the first time I’d called attention to the fact that I had been blogging for a certain number of years, and that was mostly due to the fact that I hadn’t really noticed it up until that point.  Ha.

I love blogging.  I’m pretty sure that I always will.  This interactivity was what was missing from all my childhood spiral-bound notebook journals.  I get bored just talking to myself, which is why I always mean to journal more and then I do for a while and then I quit.  I prefer to know what others think of what I’m saying.  I find value in community and discussion and the reactions of others.  That doesn’t mean I’ll always agree with everyone, because that would mean I had lost my own ability to think and decide rationally.

I was born to be part of the digital age, and I feel right at home here.

This year is more than a quarter over, but in terms of blogging, this is my New Year’s Day.  I can start over.  I can begin again.  I have a fresh sheet of paper, an unopened blank book.
