Hello, my caffeinated lovelies! Well, perhaps you’re not caffeinated. But you’re still lovely.

Last weekend, I had a migraine pretty much the entire time. It was especially bad on Sunday. Nothing I did would make it go away – I tried all my usual tricks.

Plenty of water. Extra rest. Time away from the computer (didn’t even turn it on Sunday). No reading. Not much television. Eating bland food. Taking headache medicine. NOTHING WORKED.

I knew it was the sort of headache that wasn’t going to budge until it was ready, and I just had to wait it out. I HATE waiting things out. I would much rather be able to take over the situation and fix it.

Sometimes you can’t fix things. Sometimes you have to wait them out.

Often, our only choice is to be as patient, as wise, and as careful as we can be during a rough time. For whatever reason, we can’t actually do anything to make it all better.

All we really have control over at any given moment is the way we decide to BE in that situation.

We can be upset, angry, and whiny. We can be listless and depressed. Or we can do something better: we can recognize that the situation is bad, that we don’t like it, and that we just have to wait it out. It’s okay to be upset that the situation even exists. It’s okay to wish for something better.

But don’t assume you can’t learn something from continuing to be in the moment, where you are, right now. Just be here. No matter how painful, no matter how little control you have. Just be here.

If you were here any of yesterday, I apologize. If you were here last night, I apologize.

It seems that my site’s previous MySQL database stopped talking to it (I don’t know if they had a fight or what, but somebody had an argument and somebody refused to speak to somebody else), so in the middle of yesterday morning, the whole thing stopped working.

ERROR ESTABLISHING DATABASE CONNECTION blah blah blah OMGCRAP.

Now, being an awesome webhost and all that, I immediately knew what to do. (Cue superhero music and my big red cape)

That sure as heck doesn’t mean it was what I wanted to do, or what I had planned for the afternoon. Grr.

The upshot is: my site now lives on a different server (which I had been meaning to do anyway but didn’t have time), with a different database to have future arguments with. I hope they are all happy. I also upgraded to the newest Thesis version, which frankly rocks, and I had also been meaning to do that anyway but didn’t have the time.

Which brings me to your inspirational caffeinated takeaway for today:

You know that thing you’ve been putting off? The one you know you need to do, should probably do, might even be time sensitive but not enough to put you in top-priority mode?

It’s going to come and BITE YOU IN THE ASS if you don’t just go ahead and do it. Trust me. It will rearrange your schedule all by itself if you don’t just get it done.

I hope you’re happy, I have to learn these things by the sweat of my teeth for you. Or something like that.

What I want to ask you all in this post is what sort of thing would you like me to talk about in a podcast?

I now have podcast fever, due to being interviewed a grand total of ONCE (at Lookilulu, remember?), and would love to share my awesomeness with the masses.

However, in order to be the BEST POSSIBLE brand of awesomeness, I need to know what you want to listen to.

Hilarity? Usefulness? Inspiringness?

Would you like to know what it’s like to run a business? Would you rather know how crazyass my life is because I have four kids? Do you want to know the secret to an AWESOME cup of coffee?

(Here is where I am trusting that you have some even better ideas. Go ahead! Comment away!)

*No, I am not a pyromaniac. At least not right now. Heehee.

1. Sometimes I don’t wash my face until it reminds me that it’s dirty. Like, my skin feels itchy and I suddenly realize OH DUH, IT FEELS LIKE THAT BECAUSE IT’S NOT CLEAN.
2. I don’t enjoy going out in public until I’m already out in public.
3. I hate answering my phone.
4. More than two cups of coffee usually gives me a headache, but I have a caffeinated reputation to uphold, so I soldier on! (Feeling sorry for me yet?)
5. I have to visit my own design website to remember how much to quote people for stuff. Because I FORGET HOW MUCH I COST.
6. My favorite music to design or write to is mindless, shallow-tastic Britney Spears and Black Eyed Peas.
7. When a ThinkGeek newsletter arrives in my email, I either have to delete it unopened, or spend at least an hour putting geeky crap in my shopping cart before I force myself to close the tab NOW.
8. My moonstone ring that my husband bought me (with HIS birthday money!) is so awesome that even though it is a size too large, I wear it anyway because I don’t want to give it up even for a few days to have it resized.
9. I can’t stand having Twitter ping my phone when I get a DM (see above, re: hate answering my phone).
10. I have more paper than I will probably ever write on, and yet I never seem to have the PERFECT paper for writing on.
