Belly Shots May Now Begin.

by Rachael on July 13, 2008

Against my better judgment (because I always think I appear cow-like and utterly disgusting when I am gestating), I have decided it’s time to start taking, and posting, belly shots.

Since I’ve managed to get through the first trimester (almost!) without losing the baby or becoming so horribly sick I could no longer cope, I’m celebrating by taking grainy webcam still photos of myself! For you!

In these photos, you can see my other three pregnancies’ worth of stretch marks. You can see that my belly is still stretched out from carrying my other precious children. You can see my side fat, arm fat, and general overall slight bloatiness. But what you also can see, I hope, is my happiness. I’m so happy to be carrying this child. I’m so happy, in fact, that I’m letting you all see my belly WITHOUT ANYTHING COVERING IT, which is A FIRST for me.

Apparently the pregnancy has finally gotten to me, and I no longer have any shame! Oh well. I’m sure I didn’t need it for anything anyway.

Here you go (they’re posted on Flickr too, so you can always comment there if you feel the need):

I agree with Diane! There are those of us out here who WISH they were blessed with a baby, who WISH they could have THAT body while pregnant. You’re gorgeous, sweetie :) No udders in sight!

Oh Rachael, they’re great! I always wanted to share my belly pics with everyone and didn’t have a venue at the time – I’m so happy that you do and will be able to share your journey with us :-) Every ounce of your body that you just called flab & bloat is a tribute to your children – it’s an honor to carry that, it really is. I look at my droopy belly and stretch mark-covered thighs and remember just how in love with my body I was when carrying babies – enjoy this :-)

I love that you posted these despite all your perceived flaws. I love that your happiness shows so well. Most of all, I love that you know its your happiness that makes the pictures so good. :)

What fun, belly shots! I thought I would see photos of people taking shots off your belly but these are good too!

Can’t wait to be preggers and to take my own belly shots *sigh* someday it will happen.

My Gosh! Your kids are a perfect image of you. I was going to say how much Lissie looks like you, and then I thought Joey looks JUST like you too. Ian looks like his Daddy, sorry ;-)
