66: Hallo?

Blogged on Thursday, October 4th, 2007 by Rachael. Filed in Randomness.

I’m writing this post in Flock!  So actually, kind of, this is a test.  I want to see if it works better (or worse), or if it’s going to screw up the formatting of other posts, or anything else random and annoying and in the need-to-fix-it variety.

I’m home more now.  I’m down to part-time at the restaurant, because the web updates job I have is giving me more hours now.  I’m still working at the library, and there is another part-time job I’ve been interviewing for that I will most likely (fingers crossed) get next week, and it is also flexible like the web job and would be FANTASTIC and a good addition to my collection of jobs.

I find it incredible that, in this economy, I have three jobs.  Three!  How did that even happen?!

So I’m going to sit here and eat gummy bears and drink coffee, and watch pointless TV and be grateful and thankful for all the things I have.  Because not only do I have the three most awesomest kids in the entire world, I also have three jobs and financial aid for school and food stamps for now (yay for food, thank you difficult-to-reach caseworker) and health insurance (yay for never-at-her-desk caseworker again, lol), and even though I don’t have EVERYTHING I need right now (like a car), I’m doing alright.  I really am.

When unemployment came a-knocking, food stamps and WIC(check it out if you haven’t yet) came in real handy.

In fact, I think we received almost too much on our bridge card, but that’s a different story all together since they don’t allow you to give back the money you don’t use. Let’s just say I had an exemplary dinner on the government dole, although I still feel a bit guilty about it.

Oh, and don’t take the caseworkers attitudes to heart. They tend to be overworked and occasionally have to deal with dregs of society. Hence as a group they have high incidence of grouchiness and cynicism because they’re usually burnt out.

Cyli, THANK YOU. I miss you too, lady!

I will tell Princess L - actually I’ll just have her read it. Her teacher says that she reads so fluidly in class (out loud) that she could listen to her all day. Isn’t that the sweetest thing?

Hug and kiss for you back. When I get a car again, I am coming to see you. I promise.

Zifferent - yah, we already have the food stamps, and don’t need WIC because it’s the same basic stuff except that it’s not ANY food you want, just specific items. We have enough food stamp money to get everything we need. :)

My caseworker’s not actually very cynical; she’s busy and forgets things sometimes, is all. As if you WOULDN’T, with as many cases as they have open at a time.
